Beautifully perched beneath the raw peaks of the Rif, Chefchaouen or Chauen, as it is often called by Moroccans, is one of the prettiest towns in Morocco, an artsy, blue-washed mountain village that feels like its own world. The buildings were painted blue by the Jewish refugees who lived here during the 1930s. The town is connected by a collection of narrow winding cobblestone streets. A great place to relax, enjoy some shoppings or just chill out in one of the many local cafes.
